Is There are Connection Between Spiritual Health and Physical Healing?
Sickness if often a results of an unhealthy spiritual or emotional condition. Our spiritual health as well as our physical health is affected by our fears, negative thoughts, anger, resentment, or abnormal amounts of stress. If you ask ministers and some alternative health experts what they think about physical health, they will tell you that diseases that people encounter is a result of poor spiritual health and well being. It is believed by many people today that there is indeed a link between physical illness and spiritual or emotional factors.
Healing of the body can be a result of a person taking care of his spiritual well being. A person who has great spiritual and emotional feeling will also feel good physically. Illnesses can progress and last depending on the attitude that you have while you are experiencing the illness. Even in the midst of illness, we can still keep our faith in God to heal and guide us through times of uncertainty and to ward off fear.
You are the best judge of your spiritual health. There is a need for careful and honest self examination of your heart and mind to see if there is any negative emotions like fear, anger, anxiety, unforgiveness, negativity, and other emotions that does not only harm your spirit but harms your body as well. Each person has a predominant emotion that is the one that rules his mind and his life. Holding on to these toxic and negative emotions is exposing your body to become sick eventually. To become really healthy you should try to cultivate emotions of love, joy, peace, patience, and faith in God. These are good and positive emotions that only come from the Spirit of God Himself. If you fill your heart overflowing with these and open the door to God’s healing light, you filter out the emotional that keep you spiritually dark that causes physical illness.
If you maintain good spiritual healthy, you will be better equipped to face the problems around you. Keeping a great faith in God even when there is really no problem that you are facing will help you during the times when you are facing negative circumstances and your health is challenged.
There are many ways to maintain your spiritual health and these are through meditation, reading the Scriptures, prayer, and others. If you regularly do these activities, then you will realize that you are becoming healthier emotionally. Bad emotions like fear, anger, and bitterness can be overcome if you do these activities regularly. Those who are able to read the Bible regularly will know of the love and faithfulness of God which is strong enough to conquer the negative emotions in our lives.
However, even if we have the most positive attitude, healing may not always be instantaneous. If you are strong spiritually, you will be able to bear your sicknesses well.
